unquiet nights

     too many creatures stirring

          clicking canine toes and rasping tongues

     laughs and mutterings to wake living and dead    

          ceaseless doors and restless feet

heels on hardwood knocking like relentless solicitors

     bedtimes are optional

     in the face of art, dreams, and mania
