His hands were handcuffed, his hands pulled behind his back.

“I didn’t do it” Emmanuel pleaded.

“Yeah, tell that to the judge.”

Emmanuel lowers his head. He had been wrongfully convicted before. Just because he fit the profile, lived in a poor neighborhood, didn’t mean he was guilty.

The police officer put him in the back of the police car, turned on the siren, and drove to the nearest precinct.

They arrive at the station. He was asked to take out everything in his pockets to go through security.

“Sir, your necklace.”

Emmanuel reluctantly takes off his gold cross necklace. He kisses it and puts it in the metal container.

The police officer says he has one phone call to make.

He calls his attorney.
