After a long journey from New York, I have reached the territory of the northern tribes that James Randolph studied two decades ago. Randolph's notes claim one of the tribes he encountered had characteristics of cannibalistic practices, but they held their secrets close and would not initiate him into their mysteries. Having studied those notes for many years, I do not believe his records are accurate. I believe he did not show the traits needed to sway the people here to trust him. Where his resolve failed him, mine shall not.

This being said, I must also remind myself that terms such as "savages" and "heathens" are the words men like Randolph use to describe the people who live in these northern lands. They are not words I myself should dare think.
