I couldn’t help myself speaking aloud when I read the email earlier. “Oh so now you want me, eh?”
Linda dropped her cookery book on the desk with a thump. My words had echoed around the largely empty library. Tuesday mornings are quiet until about 10:30. “What?” Her eyebrows were raised and her head cocked to one side. “Are you emailing Alex, or have you had a better offer?” She winked at me.
I waved a hand at her. “Not like that. Get your mind out of the gutter, woman.”
She chortled. She loves when she can freak me out by being outrageous in what she says.
