I learned a few words of Italian on my trip with Alex. I’ve got vino rosso for red wine, treno for train, biglietto for ticket (although I’m still not totally sure on how to pronounce that),
acqua for water (it was hot), gelato (the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted and oh so many flavours), and biblioteca means library.
Luckily Alex knows more than me thanks to doing one of those language apps and of course there was plenty of pointing and gestures. The main thing was that we didn’t get on the wrong train or get thrown off for having the wrong ticket. I was having nightmares about that before we flew out.
