Libraries get free bookmarks every week. We could probably wallpaper the children’s section with them. Actually, that’s not a bad idea. It would be better than the blank white walls we currently have in that area. Hmm, I must have a think about that.

Publishing houses send bookmarks to advertise their new releases. They fondly imagine we have a decent budget for new books, bless their naive little hearts. They figure that if we give away the bookmarks the readers will request the books and we’ll be forced to order them. If only they knew how large our “requested books” list is and how small our “money to buy requested books” budget is. It would curl their hair faster than a direct lightening strike.
