I never thought I’d hear that word as a recent high school graduate. As a girl who’s about to start her first job. As a girl with traditional parents that would kick her out if they ever heard that word come from her mouth. 

“No, there must be a mistake.”

“I’m sorry, Anya. The results are accurate. You are pregnant,” the doctor said.
