“There is somebody here,” I told her. I felt my fight or flight instincts start to kick in and I felt myself going into alarm. Violet looked casual and relaxed, like she truly didn’t care. Maybe she didn’t realize the magnitude of the situation or maybe she was always collected like this. But she hadn’t seen what I had seen and she didn’t know what I knew.

“So,” she drawled. “There is always someone or something in my house. Start with my closet monster. Oh and I have a new boyfriend. This creepy guy who keeps showing up in my dreams and promising we will be together someday. And oh my grandma lives with me. She’s such a bitch.”
