Homemade Beefburgers

Mmmm, no barbecue is complete without a burger or two, agreed? And like many people, I like to know what goes into my food. Well, there's no better way to do that then to eat something that's homemade.

Hence my beef burger recipe. It's dead simple to do and when they're made by you, you know that they're going to be pretty top notch, with nothing but the freshest ingredients. Oh, and this recipe is a basic one so you can tailor make them to your own specific tastes; try adding garlic, fresh herbs or perhaps even fresh chilies.  There's nothing like it.

Preparation time; 35 minutes Serves 4-5

Ingredients

500g of lean, beef mince meat

1 medium onion, finely chopped

Salt to taste

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method

Place the onion and mince meat in a mixing bowl. With your hands, gently tease apart the shreds of meat, and mix the onion pieces within it.

Add the salt and pepper and stir well with either a wooden spoon or, if you prefer to do so, with your fingers.

To fully bind the ingredients, blend thoroughly with either a traditional blender or a hand held one. If your mixture is in a traditional blender, return to the mixing bowl.

Using your hands, mould the meat into burger shapes of equal sizes. Your burgers are now ready for cooking.

Fry for 15 minutes, or until brown, or grill or barbecue until they have browned, approximately 20 minutes.
