to get leverage, but as he turned, Jose` sank his teeth into his jugular and clamped down with his powerful jaws. A high-pitched whine escaped from his throat, which soon turned into short, broken whimpering, then finally into gurgling sounds. Jose` held on firmly until Bruce’s body went limp, and then he held on a few seconds more. Finally, he let him go, his body hitting the ground with sickening finality. He was dead.

            “What did you do?” General Hudson exclaimed. “You didn’t have to kill him!”

            Jose` licked the blood from his lips. “I think it was you who put it so eloquently before – it had to be done.”
