The first round of discussion for a Global Plastics Treaty were held in Punta del Este, Uruguary in Nov-ember, 2022. The UN Environmental Assembly in March, 2022 agreed on the adoption of a mandate for an International Negotiating Committee to develop a legally-binding UN Treaty on Plastic Pollution. The goal is to complete negotiations by the end of 2024.
