how many stitches, and exactly where, exactly where the arm, or leg was broken, how much did the cast cover.  He laughed in amusement as he told her everything.  She stood there, wide-eyed, curious, taking in every detail, like a sponge took in water, only she could never be saturated.  She was so excited about her calling.  Adam took her hand and gazed at his young nurse.

     “I’ve never seen anyone so happy and enthusiastic to see blood and broken legs and stuff.”

     “Lucky for you, I am,” she teased.

     Dessie took surgical instruments out of the bowl of alcohol, dried them, and Adam put them away.  They worked in silence for quite a while until Adam spoke.  His voice was gentle.
