I've reached a halfway point, and I must choose

Proceed without caution, flinging doubt to the wind

Or retreat into the land of Told You So and Never Could

So I pause here, thinking and overthinking

Entertaining second and third thoughts

Sometimes as many as seventh or eighth ones

And I look back at the road already traveled,

Familiar and safe (but a little boring)

I reflect on the grace and determination that brought me here

To the halfway point

Then I take my next first step
