Returning to work in the craft shop today proved eventful.

I road-tested my broken toe at book club last night. Sophie drove us there which was kind as it meant she didn’t get to sample the gin cocktails our host, Marion, concocted for the readers.

We did discuss the book, a thought-provoking thriller by Irish author Jane Casey (which I loved), but the gin made everything a little fuzzy around the edges towards the end of the discussion. I sobered right up when Mary Kelly pulled me aside as we gathered our things to leave.

“Trish, have the O’Leary’s caused you any more trouble since the farmers’ market?”
