As the tentacles pulled it closer, a dreadful orifice opened up like a black hole. The innumerable limbs stuffed the helpless victim inside. Seconds later, the gaping mouth closed, and the light began to fade. The darkness rushed back in. I forced some motion back into my petrified body.

Move, Rick. Move.

Mechanically, I clicked my heels together and activated the thrusters on my feet.

I began blasting upwards. Away from the monsters. Away from the creatures that would haunt my nightmares for the rest of my life. If I ever slept again.

The surface… I just needed to make the surface…
