out towards the island. It was too low to see past the waves, and I was unsure if Jess or Benjamin were still on shore. So I started to paddle, and prayed that the undercurrent didn’t drag us out faster than I could paddle us in. I yelled over my shoulder to the other two passengers.

         “If you wanna live, do what I’m doing!” I shouted.

         “No way man!” the guy said. “I’m not putting my hands in there! Did you see that thing?”

I darted my head back at him and sneered.

         “I did more than just see it. I felt it. Because I swam all the way out here to save-”
