            Reaching the castle, the two women dismounted and tethered their horses in the shade by the garden. Arm in arm they covered the short distance to the door. Letting the knocker drop, Lizette braced for the boom she knew was coming. When it hit, she was surprised by a soft knock, instead of the usual booming sound. Llesenia seeing her surprise could not contain her laugh. “If we are goddesses, my dear, why should we be subjected to that which makes us uncomfortable?”
