My cycling weekend with Cal feels so long ago, even though it’s only been a few days since we cycled home to massive hugs from Hannah and Jamie.

Even the Dragon seemed pleased to see us. Actually no, she exclaimed over Cal’s tan. When she turned to me she explained she’d cleaned my cupboards, thrown away the out-of-date jars in our fridge, and sorted our towels. The effect of my dental-drugs outburst had worn off and the true Dragon had taken flight once more.

Cal’s working a big murder case in Cork. After our fun in the hay-shed I’m missing him, but unlike Gary, I trust him when he’s away from home.

I can also trust my husband to always miss any major household disas...
