We work together in silence, taking the snow chains off of the truck and packing them away. I back up the truck and turn it around, then sit for a minute to collect myself. It’s hard to head back the way we’ve come when we worked so hard to get away.

Sanford and James are quiet, too—we all know we’ll have to get past those drones again.
