After life,

it will be time to move

on to other things

to the vast stone meadows

and wiry dreams

where our tongues may

finally meet our teeth

and at last speak the words

we have patiently yearned

to hear

 

After life,

the mourning winds will

lift us up

beyond the mountains of

our woe,

the better parts we

have left behind for others

to someday carry them

over their mountains

as had so long ago

been gifted to us;

the greatest act of

love

 

After life,

the river flows kindly

beneath the soft

summer air

floating peacefully down

the gentle current

as the dawn never rises

and dusk neve...
