My darling,

I know you want a love poem

and I want to write you one,

but the truth is I don’t

like love poems very much

they tend to be flowery, grand,

try-hardy, and above all

they come off somewhat insincere

to me,

and I know I’m a kook

and t he poem wouldn’t be for

me,

but I cannot force myself to

write that way

and I don’t think you’d

like it all that much

anyhow
