Letter from Mary Jefferson to “M”, August 5

Dear M,

Camp is nearly drawn to a close. We have but one more campfire and the play that I wrote you about earlier in the summer. One of my cabinmates, J, found the details I was able to provide her quite useful. She named one of the characters Media, and another Paralee. So charming!

I am happy that I will be returning home to you in a matter of days. I fear this time I have been away for too long. I know that you, too, look forward to the return of my assistance around the house.

I do not deny that I will miss the friends I have made this year, as I do each year. We have already exchanged addresses and have made promises that we will write to one another for the entire year, until we are reunited next...
