Shrieks pursued me.

With my shoes and purse clutched together, I rummaged around blind inside the former for the sig inside. I ran from the fight raging behind me, all too aware only two appeared.

I made it two steps from under the shelter of the tunnel when something slammed into my back from above. Denying me the opportunity to check my surroundings, the she-demon used her momentum and rode me to the ground. I managed to gain some semblance of control to our fall. Enough to twist onto my side so we both absorbed the pain of impact, instead of me taking it all. I rolled onto my back and used my weight as leverage to pin the damned creature. 

The she-demon dug her fingers into my shoulders and fought to right herself, but with my feet planted firmly on the ground, I pushed...
