“Ashidi!” Nathaniel yelled.

The strange name echoed back at him. He paused, listening for a response, and heard Annyka in the faint distance calling the same name, but nothing more. He squinted ahead, but there was no sign of movement along the foggy street. It was paved with the same stone as the courtyard and lined with slender green light posts that curved inwards like leafless trees hanging over a forest path, their globes dull and lifeless.
