Chapter 25

It was dark. The stars shone bright overhead. It was about midnight, and a cold dampness hung in the air. Up ahead, an orange light flickered against cold stone, its source somewhere beyond view.

Nathaniel paused, his eyes searching the darkness ahead for any sign of movement. A noise from behind made him look back along the stone corridor. He listened, but the only sound was that of his heart...
