The day began normally enough for Officer Nathaniel Grey. He woke early, and after a hasty breakfast he left his apartment, walking the few blocks to the office by foot and arriving at the doors to the Ecumenical Centre just as the first rays of day graced its highest floors. The Civil Office was on level three, and at the opening of the elevator doors he made his way briskly to his cubicle, collecting a percolated coffee on the way.
