Chapter 4

     “bbbBBBBZZZZZZzzz,” the alarm vibrated the nightstand next to Alice’s bed.

   She cracked the eye that was not buried in the pillow. Slowly she rolled over and slammed the off button on the windup clock. She took a big stretch and yawn, and then she smiled. “I’m in love,” she thought. With a leap, she jumped out of bed.

   Showering, teeth brushing, hair combing, dressing were all accomplished, her feet barely touching the ground.

   A knock came at the door. “Alice, breakfast’s ready,” Sissy hollered through the door.

   “I’m comin’,” she said.
