Emily Shook almost screamed with delight as she saw Aaron’s buggy and horse coming up the hill to her house.  She felt her bonnet, to make sure it was secure on her head, and smoothed her dress to make sure it had no wrinkles.

     Mama, Dat, Aaron is here,” she called.  “I’m leaving now.”

     Emily ran out onto the porch and began waving wildly to Aaron still coming up the drive.  He remembered back to his days courting Cecily.  She had never, ever been this enthusiastic to see him.  He thought it was really nice a girl could be this interested in him without it seeming to be forced.
