Arrin entered the number Tracine had given him, leaving the privacy screen on as before. Tom answered on the first ring, as if he’d been holding the phone in his hand waiting for the call. It infuriated Arrin that Tom had been so sure Tracine would get him to call.

“Hello? Who is this?” Tom asked when no one had spoken.

Arrin remained silent, fuming.

“Is anybody there?”

“It’s me.”
