Hearing Arrin say he loved them for the first time would’ve made Tracine’s day, except for the circumstances. “We love you too, Arrin,” she sobbed.

Arrin forced a smile. I know, and I’m sorry for the hurt I’m causing you because of it. I’ll try to come back to you, somehow. I promise. Will you wait for me?”

“I will. I’d wait forever for you.”

Arrin kissed her on the lips, and returned to the SUV.

“Let’s go,” he said, his voice breaking.

Tom backed the SUV out of the driveway and drove off into a gorgeous sunrise of pink and gold no one noticed.
