Tom gripped Arrin’s shoulder. “You’re hurting. I can see it in your eyes. Please come home with me, and between Peter, Pastor Willis, and myself we’ll help you find the peace you need.”

What Arrin needed was to back away, but he was in a corner, crammed against the railing, and there was nowhere to go. With a wave of his arm he knocked Tom’s hand off his shoulder.

“Surely you’ve heard I’ve kidnapped a woman and killed a police officer. I’m not the man you once knew. You don’t want me back in New Hope living among your innocent citizens.”

“I’ve heard all about your exploits here, but it doesn’t matter. You’re still my brother. Come back to New Hope with me. Please.”
