“Do you like to fish, Arrin?” asked Clayton as he set his own burden down more carefully.

“I’ve never been fishing,” Arrin said as he set the cooler down.

Ron was sure Arrin was lying. In his protected, loving universe it wasn’t possible for a man Arrin’s age to have never fished. “You must’ve gone fishing when you were a boy.” His tone dripped with accusation.

Arrin glowered at him. “I grew up indoors until I escaped when I was ten. Afterward I was too occupied with staying free and alive in the big city to have time for such leisure activities as fishing.”

“Too occupied with thieving?” Ron said.
