A pounding on the bank’s jammed back door reminded him he didn’t have any time to waste, however. He ducked into the XL250, slammed the door shut, and slid the key card into the ignition. Aiming his gun at Jenni’s head, he said, “Drive! Now!”

She put the car in reverse and stomped on the gas pedal until they were out of the parking space, put it in drive and squealed out of the parking lot. Seven police cars came after them in pursuit, sirens wailing.

“Let those officers catch us and you die,” Arrin said, although in reality he had no intention of hurting her.
