The briefcase was nearly full when Arrin heard sirens approaching. He cursed. It seemed one of the women, or perhaps someone in the lobby had managed to trigger a silent alarm. He wrapped his free arm around Jenni’s neck while gesturing with his gun for Ms. Theodore to move out of the way, and dragged Jenni to the briefcase.

“Close it and lock it.”

Jenni complied with shaking hands. “Please don’t hurt me, sir,” she said in a trembling voice.

“If you cooperate, I won’t need to hurt you. Pick up the briefcase.”

Jenni obeyed.

 “Is there a back door to this place?”

Jenni started to sob as she realized this volatile criminal intended to take her with him. “It’s down the hallway.”
