Arrin was almost to the trailhead leading to Gray Lake when a car pulled up beside him. Without even looking Arrin knew it was either Peter or Pastor Willis. The two of them were always after him, never giving him a moment’s peace.

Sure enough, Pastor Willis stepped out of the parked car, but by then Arrin was thirty feet further up the road.

“Arrin! Wait up!”

Arrin sighed in exasperation, but waited for Pastor Willis.

“How are you doing?” Pastor Willis asked when he caught up to him. “Peter said you were upset. Is there anything I can do for you?”

“Yes. You can leave me alone,” Arrin said.

“Arrin, I can’t leave you alone when you’re so obviously hurting.”
