Arrin stumbled inside the ship and dropped his burden in the captain’s seat. The laser he’d taken from Collin’s hand fell from his pocket and landed with a loud clang on the floor of the ship. He leaned over to retrieve it, but then thought better of it. Although it would be useful to have a laser when he attempted his escape, this weapon had been used to kill scores of innocent people. He wanted nothing to do with it. He left it on the floor.

After making the changes to the computer ensuring a crash landing, Arrin started the liftoff countdown.
