Chapter Four

The Council had asked every resident of the men’s dorm to be present upon Arrin’s arrival in the hope it would make for a smoother transition for all concerned. Since he planned to escape as soon as possible, though, Arrin paid little attention as each man was introduced by Pastor Willis. Until Peter was introduced. Although Peter was approaching fifty years of age he looked no older than forty. He had an athletic build, the slightest sign of crow’s feet at the outer edges of his warm brown eyes, and a trace of gray in his thick, dark brown hair. But it was the awed respect the other men gave Peter that piqued Arrin’s interest. He made a mental note to spend more time with Peter and discover what made him so special.
