Collin came to his feet and making an effort to look nonchalant sauntered toward the door-less exit. Halfway there he stole a glimpse at Arrin hoping his womb twin would call him back.

Arrin saw Collin’s sideways glance and he knew what it meant, but despite harboring a keen need for family, especially after losing everyone else, he knew he’d be the death of Collin someday, even as he’d been the death of all of his other brothers. Letting Collin go was saving Collin’s life. He bit back his plea.

Collin paused in the doorway for a moment, still waiting for Arrin to make an argument for him to stay, but when Arrin persisted in his silence, he walked out the door into the cold, unwelcoming rain.
