In the 1880’s, gypsy lad Eddie carves a token of his love from a piece of wood and gives it to his sweetheart. Through love and life, tragedy and sorrow, the wooden rose bridges the gap and brings the past into the present.
With the rose newly in her possession, Alina Webster is facing her own challenges and life changing circumstances. A chance encounter helps her to find her true path, and she turns a secret hobby into an occupation when she establishes herself as a professional psychic consultant based in Glasgow.
The frequent appearance of an old gypsy woman in her dreams worries Alina. As she opens herself to her psychic abilities she begins to use her knowledge and experience with Tarot, Runes, Numerology and Psychometry. With these skills she uncovers the reason for the old gypsy woman’s appearance and discovers a long forgotten murder mystery.
In the process the rose becomes a catalyst that restores love, friendship, but above all family to Alina’s life.

Soraya began her professional writing career with The Sunday Post newspaper. In 2001 Soraya wrote her first reference book 'Book of Spells' which continues to be a bestseller. Since then, she has written twelve other titles in this genre.
Soraya devoted much of her time to developing Reiki teaching manuals, maintaining traditional methods yet providing best practice for expected educational standards. Her courses were approved to graduate level by SQA. Soraya's methods are still being taught by Master Teachers that were trained by her.
Soraya's ambition had been to write novels, but she always felt too busy to devote any time to doing what she wanted to do most. Her first novel The Wooden Rose, (A symbol of love, a mystery unravelled) finally achieved that dream and it has been followed by the prequel, Before the Rose, (the Gypsy's Curse) and the third book in the trilogy, After the Rose (Breaking the Curse).
