Series Description:
Rose is twelve, and she’s angry and confused. She’s also in the hospital. Things seem to have been tough for her ever since the divorce, ever since her dad stopped being there for her. This isn’t the first time she has found herself staying at the hospital, but the doctors still don’t know what is wrong. The only person who actually seems to understand, who cares at all, is her mum. Her mum who is always there for her, who always loves her no matter what.
What Rose doesn’t realise is that her mum has a contemporary form of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, but she does know that staying ill seems to keep her mum happy. And she needs to keep her mum happy, otherwise everyone suffers. But what should she do when making her mum happy means destroying the life of her dad? She can’t keep life going for everyone, and the weight on her shoulders is crushing her. Life really isn’t fair.
Through her daily journal entries we follow Rose’s struggles as she battles to make sense of her world. A world that is cruel and painful. A world that was created and maintained through the love of her mum. A world that she must begin to understand if she isn’t to lose everything.
