One day, a pilgrim with a tall hat docked his ship onto unknown land. It was beauty at its finest. He took in a deep breath while his eyes wandered the grass, the trees, the plants.

"Hello, trees!" the pilgrim said, and the trees danced in the wind, shaking their twigs and leaves with the beat of the air.

"Hello, sun!" the pilgrim said, and the sun sparkled in the blue sky. He looked down and saw a beautiful flower.

"Hello, Mr. Flower!" the pilgrim said to the flower. In an unusual way, the flower waved one of its stems to the pilgrim.

"Hello, Mr. Pilgrim!" the flower responded with joy. "Gee, you sure came to a great place! This land, you see, is a land where all wild life can speak!">

"Hello, Mr. Pilgrim!" the flower responded with joy. "Gee, you sure came to a great place! This land, you see, is a land where all wild life can speak! It sure is magical Mr. Pilgrim!"

As he explained his homeland to the pilgrim, he found that the pilgrim was gone! The flower thought he might have scared him away, or that he went to tell his friends about the magic of the land.

"Awe, gee," said the flower, "I sure hope I didn't scare him...that'd be...what's that smell?"

All of a sudden, the flower felt his small leafy body heating up, and within a second he was engulfed in a red flame.

"Close call!" said the pilgrim while holding a torch. "Guess we'll have to do the same with whatever else decides to speak. No place for witchcraft round here!"

That's why animals and plants in America don't speak.
