In mediaeval England there was a holy King who wanted nothing but to laugh. Years ago he was cursed by a witch and was to never laugh again. Since then he has hired fools and jesters from kingdom to kingdom who have yet to make him giggle, each one sent to the dungeons.

One fool joked, "An old man walked into a bar and he said ouch!" Nothing from the King, and so the Jester was thrown in the dungeon.

Another joked, "why is six afraid of seven? Cuz seven eight nine!" The King was still neutral faced, and the clown was carried to the dungeon.

Then one day, a fool came in with a funny eye and silly hat. It was something the King was intrigued about, maybe he was the one.
