>“What is it?” I asked.

“Just wondering…uh, when, uh, the next test is?” he said with a wry grin.

Obviously lying.

“Not for a while yet,” I said, “check the syllabus.”

“Aight, Miss Riviera,” he said before walking off.

“Jordan,” I called after him, but he was already turning the corner to exit.

I walked into the room, looking around to see if he did something. He might have just been here to see what my reaction was to Mike not showing up, but more likely he was looking through my stuff. Finding something out about me. Giving Mike some kind of leverage on me.

Am I being paranoid?

It was hope more than paranoia. I wanted this to be happening....
