Mike Johansson came in ten minutes after the last bell and took a seat in the back of the class. After putting his limp backpack on the floor and slouched down in his chair, he gave me a ‘your move’ look. I sat for just a few moments saying nothing. There wasn’t a clear way to approach the problem.
“Have you ever heard of Anhaksincaldi?” I asked.
Furrowing his brow, “no.”
“He was a very obscure man, probably not much older than you,” I said, “back in late Sumerian Mesopotamia. He led a small rebellion that was put down quickly. I don’t know if you could even call it a rebellion. He was the son of a freed slave. He didn’t like slavery, and spent time preaching to those who were still enslaved when they had a chance...
