The hum grew steadily louder. The air itself seemed charged with electricity. The ground shook, as I stood frozen by fear and indecision. The deafening scream of the horn jolted me into action.
As I ran, the realization washed over me that I was about to die horribly. I stumbled blindly into the powerful light, helpless, and lost. Suddenly a hand grabbed me, yanked me back from the tracks, and shoved me into the emergency cut out as the train careened past. The wind from the passing train made me cover my face. Once the train had passed, I looked around to see who my savior was, but no one was there.
I slowly stepped out of the cutout and looked around. Ten yards away, sitting in between the tracks was a colorful piece of plastic. I picked it up. I">
