like an electric eel -
like the 
wagging tail
of a gasping dog 
in hot bright sun,
breathless
at the response.
Coming back from
living life inside
a 20-year
slowly 
draining 
bathtub
feels good
feels alive
like an opening flower
in the cold spring air.
I once thought
to myself 
I'd tried this 
life 
too 
young -
now this train is 
departing from 
the ivy-covered station 
of my overgrown 
adolesence -
a shell-bound tortoise 
finally curious
to taste the day
and nibble leaves.
