An oceanic swell 
of sound waves surge,
disturbing deep 
pacific peace.
Chords of kelp in 
blackening green
flicker against my skin
in tingling rhythm.

Sparkling schools of salmon 
and trout chorus in 
gaping-mouthed wonder,
across fathoms of flourish
and heartbreak -
tales of wandering
in scale-armour suit
and gilled, under scrutiny

of shark, heron, octupus
and fisherman -
their legend states
they began as 
two-legged land-walkers,
before venturing
into the waters.
