My black cat 
of mood miaows
when it wants feeding,

and purrs when
feeling kind -

nimble and agile,
it can squeeze into
unexpected spaces
and pop its head 
out, from hidden hiding places - 

untamed, it will scratch
and bite and fight
me, you, or anyone else 
who comes in its path -

and occasionally,
every now-and-then,
it will disappear 
for weeks 
on end.
