Dear Matt,

     I wanted to tell you a little about my dad, your grandpa, once, no twice, married to Granny.

     When he was sober, he was tons of fun to be with.  He laughed a lot.  When he was drunk, he was mean and abusive.  Very complicated man.

     You were everything to him, and he loved and adored you lots.  He left your life when you were 3 years old.  And I think he missed seeing you and spending time with you for the rest of his.  He died August 10, 2003.  You were his 1st grandchild, and a boy, so I think he had huge expectations for you.  I think he also had dreams of doing things with you, swimming, fishing, maybe teaching you how to scuba dive when you were...
