Marjorie grew up on a farm in Manitoba, Canada and is the fourth in a family of five. She went to elementary at Bidford a one room school house and then to highschool in Deloraine. From there she took a hairdressing course in Winnipeg and it was there where she met her future husband. After she had a young family she moved to Calgary where her other two children were born. 

When her children were growing up she took art and writing classes. She was a member of an art group and took part in their shows. When she neared retirement she started to work on an idea for her first book, Bess's Magical Garden, which she self published, with Friesen Press. When she isn't writing she likes to work on paintings, read, work in the garden and walk her dog. She is an animal lover and owns two cats, budgies and a small dog.
